There are three main options for generating offline versions of the NZCER Marking online reports.

Save as a PDF

Firstly check to see if you have a PDF printer installed on your computer. This can be done by going into ‘settings’ and looking at your ‘printers’ list. By default, most MAC computers will already have a PDF printer installed.

If you don’t have a PDF printer installed, there are many free options available for download from the internet. Here are three excellent PDF printer links if you would like to follow this option

http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php

http://www.primopdf.com/

http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator (Creates more than just PDFs: PNG, JPG, TIFF, BMP, PCX, PS, EPS)

Once a PDF printer is installed, log on to the NZCER Marking website, open a report that you wish to copy, select File, Print….. then from the printer name drop list, select the PDF printer. Click OK to save the report as a PDF and follow the wizard for naming the file.

Save as a JPG

If you have downloaded the second PDF link above, this also gives you the ability to save each report page as a JPG image. Click File, Print… choose the PDF printer, click OK and then when you are asked to choose a file name, you can change the default PDF filetype from the drop list to JPG.

A quicker option is to download and install a small program called Lightscreen http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/lightscreen_portable. Once this program is installed (it even works from a USB stick), enable the Hotkeys from the Options button and make a note of the directory the files will be saved into (this can be changed if required). Open an NZCER Marking report, press the ‘Ctrl’ + ‘PrtScn’ keys and select the exact area of the report that you would like to save. Once you release the mouse, the image will be automatically saved into the designated directory.

Copy and paste

Sometimes it may be necessary to copy specific reports into a Word or PowerPoint document. It is possible to create the JPG files (as described above) and insert the images.

A quick alternative method is to use the ‘PrtScn’ key. By pressing the print screen key on your keyboard, it automatically copies whatever is showing on your screen. You are therefore able to log on to the NZCER Marking website, open a report and whilst it is in view press the ‘PrtScn’ key. Once this is done you can then move to Word, PowerPoint (or most other applications), then right click and select ‘Paste’ (or by clicking ‘Edit’, ‘Paste’).

Note: If the image does not paste in properly, it may be worth changing the default paste option to ‘Square’. This is only required once, click on ‘Tools’, ‘Options…’, select the ‘Edit’ tab, change the drop list options called ‘insert / paste picture as:’ to ‘Square’.

If you would like to crop the image to remove the unnecessary parts, then right click on the image and select ‘Show picture toolbar’. You are then able to click on the ‘crop’ button and drag the sides of the image in to the required positions.
